Ukrainian baritone Yuriy Yurchuk is a principal artist at the Royal Opera House. He is in an international prize winner (Queen Sonja International Singing Competition, Norway); Montserrat Caballé International Singing, Spain; Ottavio Ziino International Singing Competition, Italy; Monastero Foundation Bel Canto, Fritz and Lavinia Jensen, and Chicago NATS vocal competitions, USA). Aside from opera engagements at the Royal Opera House, Wexford Opera Festival, Zurich Opera, Ukraine Opera, De Paul Opera, Chicago Lyric, among others, he has also made special appearances at the 36th Kennedy Center Honors Awards in Washington DC, and at the Buckingham and Windsor palaces. Before embarking on a career as a singer he was a M&A financial advisor with PwC for eight years (and Ukrainian national salsa champion). Despite a late encounter with classical opera, Yuriy possessed a natural talent and also what has been critically described as a ‘sonorous, rich, deep voice capable of great versatility, he has quickly built an enviable reputation and repertoire. Yuriy studied Vocal Performance at DePaul University School of Music. He also holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in finance and accounting from Kyiv National Economic University.
